What We’re All About

In 1949 Jim Taylor bought a building in Arizona on Route 66. On the move here he had a statue of a black rabbit in the back of a convertible car. Along the way people kept saying they liked it & took lots of pics of it. So when he got here he put it in the ground so people could sit on it & take pics. That was how the Jack Rabbit Trading Post was born. That rabbit eventually became the model for the "HERE IT IS" sign & the famous mileage signs that you have heard about. Jim Taylor owned the store but leased it much of the time he had it.

Glenn Blansett leases it in 1961 & bought it in 1967. In 1969 his son Phil & daughter-in-law Pat bought the business. Their daughter & son-in-law Cindy & Tony Jaquez, who still own and operate, bought the store in 1995.

Tony IS a hard worker. This old business takes a lot of work to stay up & going. The signs are constantly needing to be taken care of. Our weather wreaks havoc on those . A never-ending job. We both are big givers. We always donate to people who are in need of raising funds for medical or local schools & fire depts & other local causes. Whether it be a financial donation or a food donation we believe in giving back to our community.  Making all of us stronger.

Happy 70th Birthday Party!
The pic of the presentation is not Dean "Crazy Legs" Walker. It is Jim Conkle. But Dean did make the presentation right before the pic shown was taken.

HERE IT IS SIGN

We are excited to share some details about the famous "HERE IT IS SIGN". This sign has been here for 69 years. This historic sign have the original boards that were put there in 1949. We have repainted it many times since the beginning. The most work has been on the underneath to reinforce those original boards so they wouldn't have to be replaced. We take pride in this history to ensure this old sign will be here for many years to come.  We are so happy to be part of this old route & the history of it.

Thanks to all who support us.

FAMILIAR CAR

Many years ago we found this little car in storage. Funny thing is it was a day or two after Michael Wallis & the Pixar group stopped by on their trip thru to show us the drawings & plans for the "Cars" movie. This car is just like the one on the movie sign. Crazy!
